Are you an angler looking for that new "adrenaline adventure"? Landing your first jungle payara will deliver the surge you are after! The Caura River is one of the more important tributaries of the majestic Orinoco River in Southern Venezuela. During the months of September through January a fantastic fishery exists for the vicious payara, with sabre like fangs, known for heart stopping strikes and aerial acrobatics, excellent topwater action for the dynamic sardinata with its high twisting jumps and fast strong runs, aggressive peacock bass, giant catfish and a host of other species. The operator, Carlos Aristeguieta, has developed a strong fly fishing and light tackle program to pursue these species. Anglers are guided in aluminum skiffs with 40hp outboards and casting platforms fore and aft. Much of the fishing is done by sighting the huge schools of baitfish, then moving in and casting into the feeding frenzy.
